Botanical Name – Rosa damascena

Extraction – Steam distillation (this method is rare and difficult to obtain)
Part of Plant – From the petals, handpicked at dawn when the fragrance is at its best. Around 1200 roses are used to make just 1ml of essential oil!
Countries of Origin – Afghanistan
Please note – Organic Rose is a specialist oil and at temperatures below 20°C it can crystallize. Please place in a warm place to return to liquid.
Please also be aware that 1ml and 2.5ml sizes come in a 5ml bottle so will not appear to be full.
For this precious oil, we recommend to use a glass rod or similar such as a toothpick to extract the oil from the bottle rather than using the dropper.
Organic Certificate – This essential oil is certified organic by the Soil Association, which means you can be sure that it has been produced to the highest ethical and environmental standards. The Soil Association’s standards exceed the UK government’s minimum requirements for organic products in many areas but particularly in animal welfare, GM and the use of pesticides. Standards are constantly reviewed to ensure they deal with current issues.
Please support the Afghan Rose growers and their communities. Due to the situation there the future of the Afghan Rose oil industry is uncertain. Opium Poppy farmers have been able to convert over to organic Roses under the P.A.L. project which develops ethical and sustainable livelihoods, There are no guarantees this exquisite oil will be readily available in the next year or so, and we would advise reserving what you may need.
